MOJO

Max was outside his Denton, Texas home one sunny day in June 1992 when he saw a cretin in a car dump a puppy. Max immediately rescued the pup, gave him a home and named him Mojo Sams. Mojo was named after a character from a ZBS radio series called "Moon Over Morocco". The character Mojo Sams was a 'Yudoo' man who played piano at a bar in Morocco. He got into mystic adventures and could 'trance out' when he played the piano and have visions. Mojo never grew out of being a puppy. He was bright eyed, ears up, running around and barking all the time. He was smart too. He knew there were things he wasn't supposed to do, like take paper out of the trash, so he would wait till no one was in the room to do it. If he got caught, he would instantly have his head down trying to hide the evidence. Mojo always looked forward to visits from his uncles, like Ral or Grant. He'd hear their names, cock his head, then start hunting the house looking for them. Whenever H. P. Lovecraft (the cat) got out of line, it didn't matter where Mojo was, if he heard anyone yell at the cat, he would immediately run in to enforce the law on the naughty feline with his authoritative bark. His bark made him the perfect alarm system. He could hear anybody crossing thru the front or back lawns. He scared the postal carrier more than once. Mojo passed away at 11:10 P.M., Monday, April 21, 2003. |
